From the Latgalians (Dubuļu Vylks – still a beautiful memory for Stirnu Buks runners?) to the Selonians – on August 2nd in Bebrene, Augšdaugava Municipality, the 4th stage of the “Stirnu Buks” 2025 trail running series will take place: “Sēlijas Stirnu Buks”. This stage stands out with three (!) major events –
For the first time, the series will visit Selonia.
It will host the Latvian Trail Running Championship 2025 in the ultra-distance (73 km) category;
And it will mark the very first Play-Off matches in team rankings in the history of the Mūsmežs series!
Latvian championship titles over the ~73 km distance "GARMIN fēnix Vylks" will be decided by ultra-distance runners starting at 6:00 AM from Bebrene Manor Park, aiming to return there after 7 to 16 hours. For the first time in Vilks' history, the course will be a loop, with both start and finish at the exact location!
Bebrene Manor Park is an outstanding example of landscape and park design, one of the most visually striking landscape parks in Latvia, covering 7.9 hectares. The park was established in the late 19th century, and still preserves 200-year-old giant oaks. Its central area is encircled by a looped path offering scenic perspectives and views, enhanced by three ponds – the largest is the mill pond, and the other two are smaller, one of which includes a picturesque island accessible by a romantic little bridge.
