9.2. The final event of the “Stirnu buks” series – Lielā fināla “Stirnu buks” – is organised according to a pursuit-start principle, where the start order is determined according to the participants’ season ranking calculated from the first five events of the series.

9.3. Scoring system

9.3.1. In each of the first five series events, the winner of the respective distance receives 1000 points.

9.3.2. The points of all other participants are calculated according to the formula:
winner’s time / participant’s time × 1000.
The result is rounded to the nearest whole point.

9.3.3. The season ranking includes the sum of points earned in the distance result and in the sprint stage “Mountain King / Queen”.

9.3.4. The maximum possible number of points in one event is 1300 points, of which:

  • up to 1000 points for the distance result;

9.4.4. The additional 300 points are not counted towards the season standings of the sprint stage “Mountain King / Queen”.

9.5. Season ranking calculation

9.5.1. A participant’s season ranking before the final event is based on the sum of their three best event scores from the first five series events.

9.6.2. The TOP20 participants of each distance in the season ranking start in a pursuit start, beginning individually at fixed start intervals.

9.6.3. The season ranking leader starts first, followed by the remaining TOP20 participants in order according to their place in the season ranking.

9.7. Start waves in the Grand Final

9.7.1. The first start wave consists of the TOP20 participants of each distance starting individually at fixed intervals.

9.7.2. The second start wave consists of participants who have taken part in at least three series events during the season, regardless of the distance.

10.4. One participant may be registered in only one “STB Superlīga” team. It is not permitted to change the represented team during the season.

10.5. During the season, the team captain may add additional members to the team up to the maximum permitted team size by registering them in their profile page.

10.6. The team ranking for each event is calculated by summing the points won by the team members in accordance with the following team scoring formula:

  • 1 best result in the “Vāvere” or “School Championship” distance;
  • 1 best result in the “Zaķis” distance;
  • 1 best result in the “Stirnu buks” distance;

  • 3 best results regardless of distance.

10.7. Sprint stage points are counted only in those distances where the sprint stage is held in the respective series event. In an event where the “Lūsis” distance is replaced by the “Vilks” distance, “Vilks” replaces “Lūsis” in the team ranking calculation.

10.8. Distribution of teams into divisions

10.8. In the first two events of the “Stirnu buks” season, teams are divided into four divisions:

These teams compete for places 1–16. Teams ranked lower compete in their own Round of 16 for 17th place and below.

10.11.2. Teams are divided into two competition groups – E (TOP3 teams from the EARTH and FIRE divisions, plus the 1st and 4th highest-scoring teams outside TOP3) and F (TOP3 teams from the WATER and AIR divisions, plus the 2nd and 3rd highest-scoring teams outside TOP3).

11.10. One team from among all teams that have met the requirements shall receive the main prize by draw – a EUR 1000 gift card from the partners of the “Stirnu buks” series, as well as other incentive prizes.

12. Sprint stage “Mountain King and Queen” overall standings

12.1. The winner of the sprint stage “Mountain King and Queen” receives 300 points. Each subsequent participant’s points are calculated according to the formula: winner’s time divided by the participant’s time, multiplied by 300.

12.2. All participants in the “Zaķis”, “Stirnu buks” and “Lūsis” distances take part in the sprint stage.

12.3. The “Vilks” distance is an exception: its participants do not take part in the sprint stage, but receive an additional 300 points for the length and difficulty of the course. These additional points are not counted towards the season standings of the sprint stage.

12.4. The season winner of the sprint stage is determined by summing the participant’s four best event scores of the season.

12.5. Sprint stage points earned in the final event of the season:

  • are not counted towards the individual overall standings;
  • are counted towards the sprint stage season standings;
  • are counted towards the STB Superlīga team standings.

14. “STB School Super Cup” team standings

14.1.1. A team is formed by students from the same school. It is not permitted to change the team (school) during the season. Youth up to 20 years of age may participate in the STB School Super Cup team standings.

14.1.2. To participate in the STB School Super Cup standings, the youth participant must indicate their school in their Stirnu buks profile.

14.1.3. In the team standings, each school may compete for victory in four different categories, forming its own strategy in order to achieve the maximum number of points and compete for the season title. At the end of the season, the winners of each category are awarded based on the total number of points.

14.1.4. The STB Super School title is awarded to the school with the highest total score, obtained by summing the points from all four categories.

14.2. Fastest Runners

In the Fastest Runners category, the individual points earned by the team’s 8 fastest runners (students from the same school) in the STB School Championship distance are counted.
(Section 9 of the Regulations – Season ranking calculation in the individual standings.)

The school with the highest total number of points in the individual standings of its 8 fastest runners receives 1000 points in the STB School Super Cup event standings.

The following schools receive points according to the calculation:

Points = total points of the school’s 8 fastest runners / total points of the 1st place school’s 8 fastest runners × 1000

Maximum number of points per event – 1000 points
Maximum number of points per season – 6000 points

NB! Even if a student’s result is not among the 8 fastest runners, it is still important for the team, as it contributes points in other categories – Longest Trail and Largest Group.

14.3. Longest Trail

For scoring in the Longest Trail category, both running and trail walking are taken into account. Finish time is not taken into account. A participant may take part in any of the distances offered by Stirnu buks (“Vāvere”, “Zaķis”, “Stirnu buks”, “Lūsis”) according to their age (see Section 2 of the Regulations) and level of preparation.

Team points in this category are calculated as follows:

AI (Activity Index) = total kilometres completed by the team in the event / square root of the total number of students in the school

The school with the highest AI receives 1000 points

The following schools receive points according to the formula:

Points = (school AI / max AI)^0.7 × 1000

Maximum number of points per event – 1000 points
Maximum number of points per season – 6000 points

14.4. Newcomer Activators

The team receives points for attracting new participants to the Trail Run Series “Stirnu buks”. A new participant is defined as a participant who did not start in the 2025 season of the Trail Run Series “Stirnu buks”. To receive points, the participant must finish the chosen distance; finish time is not taken into account. The participant may take part in either running or trail hiking distances.

Team points are calculated as follows:

SP (School Potential) = total number of students in the school – number of students who participated in the previous season

II (Activation Index) = new participants / square root of SP

The school with the highest II = 1000 points

The following teams receive points according to the calculation:

Points = (school II / max II)^0.7 × 1000

A new participant who competes in more than 4 season events earns the team an additional 100 bonus points

Maximum number of points in events 1–4 – 1000 points
Maximum number of points in events 5–6 – 1000+ points
Maximum number of points per season – 6000+ points

14.5. Largest Group

The team’s season points are calculated according to the formula:

SA (School Activity) = total number of students in the school – number of starters in the event

DI (Greatness Index) = total number of participants in the event / square root of SA

The school with the highest DI = 1000 points

The following teams receive points according to the calculation:

Points = (school DI / max DI)^0.7 × 1000

Additional 100-point loyalty bonuses are awarded if a participant competes in more than 4 season events

Maximum number of points in events 1–4 – 1000 points
Maximum number of points in events 5–6 – 1000+ points
Maximum number of points per season – 6000+ points

At the end of the season, the winning school in each category is awarded based on the total number of points:

Four small trophies:

  1. Fastest Runners;
  2. Longest Trail;
  3. Newcomer Activators;
  4. Largest Group

The STB Super School title and Super Cup are awarded to the school team with the highest total score across all four categories combined.

15. Race procedure

15.1. Participants in each distance start together in a mass start. The winner is the participant who is the first to complete the full marked course. Shortening the race course is not permitted, including skipping any part of the course marking.

15.2. The races take place on marked courses. The marking consists of blue-and-white signs and special warnings.

15.3. At crossings of state-level roads, representatives of the municipal police, State Police, National Guard or race judges are on duty.

15.4. Water stations are provided on the course.

15.5. Disposable cups may not be provided at water stations, therefore each participant must provide their own cup, bottle or hydration system.

18.1.5. If, for reasons beyond the participant’s control, the bib number is not placed or attached in the required position, the participant is responsible for making sure that the timing devices have recorded their presence at the relevant checkpoints.

18.1.6. The organisers are not obliged to record the participant’s result and are entitled to disqualify the participant if the rules for the use of the bib number are not observed, including, but not limited to, cases where the bib number is attached on the back, carried folded in the hand, covered by the hand, or handed over to another person.
