At the end of March, several thousand trail runners and hiking enthusiasts will head to the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete to jointly kick off the new season at one of Latvia’s most beloved active lifestyle events — the trail running and hiking series “Stirnu Buks 2026.”

The event attracts a wide range of participants every year, promoting an active lifestyle and a healthy competitive spirit, and offering the opportunity to explore some of Latvia’s most beautiful nature trails. As usual, participants will have access to a variety of distances suitable for beginners, experienced runners, and hiking enthusiasts alike:

🐿️ LVM School Championship / Vāvere (~6 km) — perfect for the youngest participants and families;
🐇 Zaķis (~12 km) — a medium-distance course for active recreation enthusiasts;
🦌 Stirnu Buks (~19 km) — the classic distance for intermediate-level runners;
🐆 Lūsis (~24 km) — the longest and most technically demanding distance for experienced participants.

The LVM Nature Park in Tērvete — one of the most visited and family-friendly nature destinations in Latvia — has already proven itself as an excellent venue for a “Stirnu Buks” stage. In April 2019, it hosted the most-attended trail-running event in Latvian history, bringing together more than 4,900 participants.

“We’re delighted that the large Stirnu Buks community has recognized the trails in the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete as excellent. Your return is a mark of the park’s highest quality — its paths, hills, valleys, and, of course, the Fairy Tale characters that live here. We hope that at this stage, every participant will enjoy dry feet, stunning views, and magical results,” says Renāte Ribaka, Communications Specialist at LVM (Latvian State Forests).

The Stirnu Buks trail running series has become an important symbol of an active lifestyle in Latvia, attracting athletes, families, and spectators who want to challenge themselves, enjoy nature, and be part of a strong community. The goal of the series is not only to organize competitions but also to create positive experiences that inspire more people to start running and spending time outdoors.

Since 2014, when the first Āžu Kalna Stirnu Buks races were held, the series has hosted 67 events, with over 185,700 participants crossing the finish line.
