RULES

Aim

To popularise trail running and nordic walking as a part of healthy and sportive lifestyle.

To bring runners, nordic walkers and adventure seekers into the forest and bring them into a pleasant event outside of the usual urban environment.

Popularise the run among the participants and tourists of the venue.

Roebucks run into the forest – in place, where even a human becomes better, more sincere and more open to environmentally friendly and sustainable thinking!

To make one’s bottom move for every big or little Roebuck from all over the world!

To show Roebucks Latvia’s highest hills and prettiest nature paths!

Organisers

Trail running series "Stirnu buks (Roebuck)’2017", further in text – Trail run, is organised by association "Engures sportam".

1.Distances

1.1. Trail run goes on different kinds of road surfacing (asphalt, rural roads with gravel surface, overgrown forest roads, pathways, firebreaks, old and forgotten paths and off-roads).

1.2. There are 5 different distances available in every Trail run:

Distance "Susurs (Dormouse)": 600m – 1km children run till the age of 10,

Distance "Vāvere (Squirrel)" 4 – 6km,

Distance "Zaķis (Bunny)" 8 – 12km,

Distance "Stirnu buks (Roebuck)" 17 – 22km,

Distance "Lūsis (Bobcat)" 27 – 35km.

1.3. Participants of distances "Roebuck" and "Bobcat" take part in extra race – "King and Queen of Roebuck", where in a separate, 200 – 600m long section of the distance control measurement is taken to establish those runners who in this section have been the fastest.

1.4. Tracks are marked with notification and caution signs!

1.5. Participants of distances "Dormouse" are running WITHOUT time control. All participants of „Dormouse” will take part in a lottery immediately after the last participant of „Dormouse” has finished the distance.

1.6. The results of participants of distances "Squirrel", "Bunny", "Roebuck" and "Bobcat" are recorded with electronic system of time control. Every participant of "Squirrel", "Bunny", "Roebuck" and "Bobcat" together with number gets a time control chip. Time control is organised at the start, finish and in finishes in-between the track.

2.Participants and age groups.

2.1. In distance "Dormouse" – participants not older than age of 10

2.2. In distance "Squirrel" – everyone without the age restriction

2.3. In distance "Bunny" – everyone starting from age of 8

2.4. In distance "Roebuck" – participants from age of 16

2.5. In distance "Bobcat" – participants form age of 18

2.6. Participant or the person responsible of the participant is fully responsible of the state of participant’s health and ability to do the distance and confirms it with a signature when receiving participant’s number. Organisers of the run are not responsible of the injuries or accidents during the race.

2.7. Medical assistance is provided at the start/finish and if needed –during the race.

2.8. Participants of distances "Bunny", "Roebuck" and "Bobcat" are divided in following age groups:

3.Place and time of the run

3.1. Run takes place in:

  • April 15, 2017 – "Zilie kalni Roebuck", start and finish at Tourism, Sports and Leisure Centre "Zilie kalni", Ogre;
  • May 27, 2017 – "Smecere pine forest Roebuck", start and finish at Sports and Leisure Centre "Smeceres sils", Madona;
  • July 1, 2017 – "Korneti Roebuck", start and finish at Korneti, Alūksne district;
  • July 29, 2017 – "Pokaiņi forest Roebuck", start and finish at "Senpokaiņi", Pokaiņi, Naudīte municipality, Dobele district;
  • August 19, 2017 – "Milzkalns – Āžu kalns Roebuck", start and finish at Šlokenbeka manor, Milzkalne, Engure district;
  • September 23, 2017 – "Gauja river valley Roebuck", start and finish at Līgatne;
  • October 21, 2017 – "Karosta Roebuck", start and finish at War Port (Karosta) territory, Liepāja.

4.Registration

4.1. Participant registration of separate runs is available on internet, starting from January 4, 2017 in www.stirnubuks.lv section "Register". Registration on internet is closed at Thursday before every race at 12:00 AM.

4.2. Last minute registration is possible in the morning before the start of current race at race center, but not later than 30 minutes before the start time of current distance.

4.3. Participation fee includes participant’s number, medical assistance at the race venue, marked tracks and work of referees, organisational expenses, catering and drinking spots during the race, catering after finish, souvenir medal for everyone who has finished the distance, parking lot, free photo gallery and videos at Trail run’s home page, fixed results for participants of distances "Squirrel", "Bunny", "Roebuck" and "Bobcat".

4.4. Participants are allowed to change the reserved distance or change reserved participant to another no later than till the Sunday 12:00 PM before the week of the race.

4.5. To change the distance and/or reserved participant to another during the week of the race you will be charged extra 10,- EUR.

4.6. Participation fee is not returned if the participant calls off the participation and won’t be transferred to the next race.

4.7. Participants who have applied to the race in time (till the Sunday 12:00 PM before the week of the race), can take out their numbers a day before the race in a place announced by organisers or at the race day in the race venue centre. Those participants who will register for race at the last week will be able to take out their numbers only in race day in the race venue centre.

4.8. Starting from December 4, 2016 to January 31, 2017 participants can purchase seasonal pass for the season of 2016. Seasonal pass covers participation fee for all 7 races and it is not attached to a concrete distance. Anyone, who will purchase season pass will receive special Roebuck running shirt without extra charge.

4.9. The owner of season pass is obliged to affirm electronically which distance he or she is planning to run in an inquiry form previously sent by the organiser no later than till the Sunday 12:00 PM a week before every race.

4.10. Seasonal pass is attached to a concrete person and it is not possible to hand it over to another person.

6. Awards Ceremony.

Receivers of places 1 to 3 of distances "Squirrel", "Bunny", "Roebuck" and "Bobcat" in total evaluation both for men and women and also receivers of places 1 to 3 in age groups, mentioned in point 2.8. of the Regulation, distances "Bunny", "Roebuck" and "Bobcat", get gifts from our sponsors.

Winners of all trail run series by total evaluation wilI be awarded at the last race.

7. Total evaluation for an individual.

7.1. Every Trail run "Roebuck" is a separate race.

7.2. Participants are able to compete for a win in the total evaluation of Trail run series in 3 different distances – "Bunny", "Roebuck" or "Bobcat" in which 5 best results of a participant in concrete distance will be evaluated! Total evaluation will be appointed by summing up received points in one particular distance. In the case of identical result a higher place will receive the participant who has earned more points at the last race of Trail run series.

7.3. Winner of distances "Bunny", "Roebuck" and "Bobcat" gets 1000 points; result of every following participant is calculated by following formula – time of the winner is being divided with the time of every runner and multiplied by 1000.

7.4. Winner of sprint section "King and Queen of Roebuck" (every participant of distances"Bunny", "Roebuck" or "Bobcat" takes part in it) gets 300 points; result of every following participant is calculated by following formula – time of the winner is being divided with the time of every runner and multiplied by 300.

7.5. In total evaluation both points in distance and in sprint section are summed up. In every race you can get maximum 1300 points.

7.6. Unofficial results in total evaluation are published also for sprint section "King and Queen of Roebuck".

8.Total evaluation of teams.

8.1. To participate in total evaluation of teams, participants can register a team of 4 – 12 runners. A team is registered by sending an e-mail with the name of team to info@stirnubuks.lv.

8.2.   To participate in team evaluation, in run there must be at least 4 participants taking part in one of the distances "Bunny", "Roebuck" or "Bobcat".

8.3. One participant can be registered only in one team. During the season it is not allowed to change the team. It is allowed to add participants to the team telling about them in e-mail info@stirnubuks.lv not later than week before the race.

8.4. In evaluation of teams points of team members in every single race are taken in account, in total evaluation including the highest sum of points from 2 team members regardless of gender who take part in "Bobcat" (points in distance + points in sprint section), 2 team members taking part in "Roebuck" (points in distance + points in sprint section) and 2 team members taking part in "Bunny" (points in distance).

8.5. In total evaluation of teams points of all 7 races of season are taken in account.

9. Process of race.

9.1. Participants in every distance go to mass start. The one who performs the distance first, is the winner.

9.2. Trails of the race are marked with blue – white signs and special warnings.

9.3. On places crossing the roads of national scale there will be people of Municipal or State police, or Civil guard.

9.4. There will be water spots throughout the race.

9.5. There will be finishes in between who will record the results.

9.6. In situation of discontinuing the run organisers will guarantee transportation to the finish. In case of health problems participant must search for the help of referees or other participants of race to solve this situation and to keep in contact with the organisers.

9.7. Catering is guaranteed for every participant after the race.

10.Final time.

"Bunny" – 3h,

"Bobcat" – 6h.

 11.Photos.

There will be photographers taking pictures at start/finish and in some spots during the race. Photos will be available in homepage www.stirnubuks.lv  and in social media.

Organisers are allowed to use photos which are taken during the race in advertising materials without informing people in them.

12.Rules.

12.1. Participation number must be placed over the shirt. It is prohibited to damage, fold, paint out the number or cover it with sports bag/belt etc.

12.2. Before the start at registration every participant with a signature confirms that he or she is fully responsible of one’s health state adequacy for taking part in the race. Participants younger than 18 years must have a person responsible for them to sign the questionnaire. Organisers are not responsible of possible injuries during the race.

12.3. It is not allowed to accompany participants with bicycles or run besides them, if the runner is not a participant oneself.

12.4. When asking for medical assistance, participant must respect the indications of the doctors about the health state adequacy for taking part in the distance.

12.5. Everyone, who will be caught cheating or fighting unfairly and not taking the whole distance, will be disqualified. It will be controlled by the referees, time fixed in finishes-in-between and by video recording.

12.6. Participants are requested to respect the environment and not to soil the nature.

12.7. During the race the motion of transport is partly limited.

12.8. All participants must follow the road safety rules.

12.9. Participants must be aware that any kind of transport could appear on forest roads, fields, meadows, from houses etc.

12.10. Participants must be especially careful when crossing motor  roads.

12.11. Organisers are not responsible of possible traffic accidents during the race.

12.12. Participants are not allowed to wear track-and-field shoes with nails, because they can damage the soil covering. Those, wearing this kind of shoes, will be disqualified.

13.Objections.

Objections are accepted with a deposit of 30,- EUR an hour (for one hour) after the finish. Deposit will be returned if the objection is reasonable

14.Changes in race regulations.

Organisers have rights to introduce changes and additions in regulation. Organisers will inform about changes in their communication channels – homepage, social media, and in e-mails to participants. Organisers are not responsible if participants have not red the regulations.
