Welcome to Saulkrasti- this is how we will greet each other on the 23rd of March 2024, meeting the Sun and opening the new season of the trail run series “Stirnu buks 2024” (Roebuck)! The seashore at Saulkrasti is characterized by high dunes with pines and a freely accessible beach with a beautiful landscape serving as the source of inspiration and strength all year round.

Saulkrasti is located 50 km from Riga, on the Eastern Latvia seashore. A part of the territory of Saulkrasti district is the nature park “Piejūra,” the seashore stretches along 17 km. It is interesting due to its variety - from “singing” sand in Lilaste to the rocky part of the seashore in Zvejniekciems. The most beautiful sunsets can be enjoyed in Saulkrasti.

The beach is windy and sea waves are washing it, sand brought by the sea accumulates there and various “sea gifts” can be found there - shells from the sea and rivers, strings of green seaweed, and bunches of brown seaweed, little stones polished by the sea, branches and other surprises.

The nature park "Piejūra," stretching from Lilaste to the Gauja estuary and being among the oldest nature parks in Lavia, is rich in beautiful lakes  - Ummis, all the Garezers, Dziļcaurums, and Serģis have emerged as the seaside lakes encircled by up to 250 years old pine forests.

Let’s consider this a protected nature area and a special privilege to stay in the nature park "Piejūra"! Let’s not deviate from the labeled trail, we respect the environment and the rules here, helping to preserve the beauty around us.
